On October 22, 1974 the Berkeley Springs Council #117 was presented with a unique offer.

Brother Johnson and family were moving to Florida and they needed someone to look after the family cemetery located on Johnsons Mill Road. It had been neglected for many years.
JrOUAM Cemetery They offered to set up a trust fund of $5,000.00, for us to keep their family cemetery mowed and maintained. For our services, they would allow us to keep the interest from the trust fund to use for our services on the cemetery. Our council agreed and has maintained the cemetery ever since.

At first the cemetery required a lot of work, as headstones were scattered and knocked down and grave markers were covered over or missing. New markers were bought and placed onto gravesites and headstones were up righted or put back into place. Many man-hours have gone into this project, and over the years the Johnson family has been pleased with our work, and in 1997 added additional dollars into the trust fund.

A lot of credit is due to some brothers who started this project and who still work at the cemetery when needed. Our united effort for this project has helped to make it the success that it is.
A sign has been erected showing our lodge as the caretaker and a new fence has also been installed.

A trend toward making the cemetery become more important to the Junior Order was the burial of one of our members in 2004. Donnie Mason, the first member to be buried in the new section of the cemetery, was also active in the upkeep of the cemetery.
